Find Used Cadillac’s in Utah
Cadillac, who is owned by GM is
considered to be America's most prestigious domestic
luxury automaker. Although the company originated
out of comfortable sedans, they have expanded in the
last few years, in order to attract younger
customers. At this, they have been successful, as
their lineup includes SUVs, trucks, and
convertibles. Cadillac was founded by Henry Martyn
Leland in 1902. He helped to create one of the
earliest Cadillac, the Osceola, which has been
called the first closed-body car made in America.
Only one Osceola was made, but it helped spark a
trend; closed bodies caught on and spread like
wildfire through the industry. Cadillac was
successful early on, with high standards and precise
craftsmanship.
They were purchased by General Motors
in 1909, and were considered to be GM's luxury car
division. This innovative company has had many
firsts, including the first U.S. manufacturer to
produce a V8, the first to use thermostatic control
of a cooling system, and the first to offer
dash-controlled headlights. During the 1930s they
even produced V12 and V16 engines. Shortly after
World War II, when tail finned vehicles became
popular, the Coupe de Ville and Fleetwood El Dorado
made Cadillac ‘the’ vehicle to have in high-class
neighborhoods. The 1970s, with a gas crunch, the
company experienced a down trend. Their huge gas
hogging that previously ruled, were now out of
style. Cadillac followed the times and scaled down
many in their. The Seville and the Cimarron were
introduced in the ‘80s. They also launched new V8s.
Yet this decade was a disappointment, as many of the
engines were considered to be unreliable.
With a loss in popularity and
customers, Cadillac's reign seemed to have been
lost. But by the 2000s a redesign and bold new look
reinvigorated the company's sales, and it was able
to introduce its first SUV, the Escalade.
Improvement in performance, fresh styles, and new
models has helped Cadillac redeem its name, and it
remains known today as a high class luxury auto
maker.
