Find Used Mitsubishi Cars in Utah
Originating from Japan, Mitsubishi
Motors is a large mixture of corporations in a wide
variety of fields. It was founded in by Yataro
Iwasaki in the early 1870s. They began manufacturing
cars in 1917, when they unveiled the Model A,
Japan's first series production passenger car. The
business is now the fifth largest Japanese
automotive manufacturer and the thirteenth largest
worldwide. Mitsubishi has developed alliances with
Chrysler, Volvo and Hyundai. The company has had a
successful past, though it has face some present day
struggles. This automaker offers a sports car, a
sedan, a crossover SUV and a SUV. Their emblem
consists of three red diamonds, and was in use well
before they ever made vehicles. Mitsubishi took
roots in producing commercial vehicles for its
domestic division of Japan. It is a car company that
has a reputation for vehicles that have top class
performance and style. During the war their efforts
were focuses on ships and vehicle for the war. In
1960 the company finally began producing passenger
vehicles on a large scale. They even took top honors
in Japan’s grand Prix. The first vehicle to be
brought to the United States under this manufacturer
was the Colt, in 1971. This same year Chrysler
bought a small portion of the company. This resulted
in the Colt being marketed under the Dodge name.
Soon, Mitsubishi was producing more than 1 million
cars per year, and its found success in vehicles
like the Galant and the Lancer. Mitsubishi began
selling cars in the U.S. under its own name in 1982.
The 1990’s sporty Eclipse and 3000GT became popular
in the United States and Mitsubishi’s platforms have
been used often on Chryslers. When Chrysler merged
with Daimler-Benz, to become Daimler-Chrysler, the
ties with Mitsubishi remained. But, in 2003, the
relationship was ended. Since, the sales figures
have not been particularly strong. Not to help
things, the company came under fire when they were
found to have systematically covered up vehicle
defects; this also led to the resignation and arrest
of one of the automaker's former presidents. Moving
forward from the controversy, Mitsubishi seems to be
on the rise again, with improved quality and a
better line of vehicles.
