Information About Orem Used Cars:
Alarm Systems
If you buy a used car, it may not be
automatic to think about getting one or installing a car
alarm. Still, there are many late model used cars that
are considerable value, and certain makes are more
likely to be broken into then others. Car theft is a
huge problem in this country, and even if it is a used
car, no one wants their car stolen. Working off a need
for vehicle protection, the automotive industry began to
manufacture a wide variety of alarm systems. Car alarms
have been in action for at least twenty-five years, and
the technology only grows. There are so many different
types of car alarms you may find in a used car: a Door
sensor (if the door is opened, the alarm will sound if
not deactivated), Window sensor (sounds if window is
broken), Tilt sensor (not for break-ins, but for the
times when the thief attempts to load it onto a two
truck and take the whole thing. If tilted a certain
angle, alarm will sound), Shock sensor (sounds a siren
if the body of the car is moved or jiggled), and
Pressure sensor (activated when the air pressure inside
the used car is changed: a window broken or door
opened). State-of-the-art systems use several or all of
the types together. Car alarm technology in used cars is
not perfect, sometimes the alarm system is too
sensitive, and will trip from a cat or a strong wind.
And some say no one pays attention to alarms anyways.
Because they are so popular, they are going off all the
time. Thieves are also continually coming up with new
ways to work around an alarm system, often faster than
alarm manufacturers can overcome. Some used car will
have a new type of security. Rather then a siren going
off, car immobilizers and vehicle tracking systems are
becoming the new leader in theft deterrent. Having a car
alarm system is a great idea, and if you find a used
vehicle that has one, all the more better. They may not
work every time, but it won’t hurt to have one either.
